Severe Weather season is here!

Nobles County has a protocol to sound ALL sirens in every city in Nobles County if Nobles County is placed in a tornado warning. This is done because when there is possible tornadic activity somewhere in the county, you never know what could be popping up in other parts of the county. That is why the sirens in Ellsworth went off on Monday evening.

The main purpose of a siren is to warn people outdoors that a dangerous situation is happening in the area, and that they need to move indoors into a safe area.

The National Weather Service is exceptionally good about informing the public in advance about

Possible Severe Weather that could happen. I highly suggest following the Sioux Falls branch on Facebook to help prepare you for days and hours ahead of the storm.

You have multiple options to receive notifications about severe weather. A weather radio with good batteries is a must have in the event of cell towers and power lines going down. Cell phone notifications and TV are also great options if there is power and service.

A meteorologist, a storm spotter, or dispatcher cannot precisely predict where a dangerous situation may take place or at a specific time.

Monitor future forecasts. If storms are in the area keep a close eye on radar, and just stay weather aware to keep yourself safe.

Update on 2^nd phase of THE New Community Center & Fitness ROOM

The Community room/ fitness room bid was considerably higher than anticipated. We need your help to complete this project. We are at 80%. Will you help reach our goal? FARMERS you can donate a portion of your harvest at the New Vision Elevator in Ellsworth. Let the elevator know that your donation will be going to the City of Ellsworth for the Ellsworth Multi-Purpose project. You will be sent a tax form after payment has been recieved by the Southwest Initiative Foundation.

Sump Pump Discharge Notice:  Any resident with sump pumps draining their water into the sanitary sewer line and NOT disposing it properly out into the storm sewer drains on the street, may be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined up to $700 dollars or jail time. City Ordinance 910.07 Use of Public Services, Subd. 1, Unpolluted Waters.
